Arny Runs!
Date: 10th March
The second we got signed off for SDL, we pounced on the opportunity to get out some Kayaks and hit the Arnold River! My first SDL Arnold Run was with Greg, Luke, Kristin, Watson, Logan and Jono. It was a strange feeling, not having a tutor around but it was encouraging having second years there. I was astounded by how quickly the trip went, in comparison to Polytech time. The weather was horrible, but it made me feel pretty ruthless for getting out there and getting amongst it on a lazy Sunday.

Another Arny run I found “character building” was when Bex, Alice, Tui, Lenny, Jeremy, Logan, Jono, Corey, Rob, Ari, Kristin Watson and I decided to go and immerge ourselves in the Arnold River. It was carnage, there were so many people, it was near impossible to catch an Eddy-line. It was raining pretty hard and the flow had significantly risen. I felt very disorientated at first, but as the trip went on, we decided to buddy up and that improved my confidence. Running the rapids at a higher flow was a lot of fun and when we got to the take- out I was grinning from ear to ear.
Murchison Madness!
Date: 14th-15th June
Trip Location: Murchison
Group Members: Kristin, Bex and I
Duration of the activity: 2 days
Learning and highlights:
The girls and I ran the Owens river run and docters over the space of two days. It was a great experience after having a back injury for so long! I was a little nervous to start off with but I soon regained confidence. Going over once and getting T-rescued by Rebecca almost immediately was a great experience for me and built a lot of trust between us all.
